First Session with a Personal Trainer in Paris: What to Expect

First Session with a Personal Trainer in Paris: What to Expect

Your first session with a personal trainer isn't a workout. It's an assessment. At Louis Fabre Coaching in Neuilly-sur-Seine, it lasts 60 minutes and consists of four parts: an interview, a body composition analysis, a postural assessment, and a wrap-up with a personalized roadmap.

Why is the first session an assessment rather than a workout?

An effective program starts with your actual situation, not a one-size-fits-all model. Before we start working out, I want to know where you're coming from: your body, your habits, and your limitations. Without this starting point, we're just training at random. And we can't measure your progress.

What happens during those 60 minutes?

  1. The consultation. We'll discuss your goals, your athletic history, your diet, your sleep, your stress levels, and your work commitments.
  2. Body composition analysis. This procedure uses professional, medical-grade equipment. It measures muscle mass, body fat percentage, hydration, basal metabolic rate, and segmental distribution.
  3. Postural and Biomechanical Assessment. I assess your alignment, muscle imbalances, areas of tension, joint mobility, and movement patterns.
  4. The debriefing. I'll explain the results in plain language, and then we'll set our priorities.

What will you take away from the evaluation?

You’ll leave with two things: a detailed assessment of your situation and a personalized roadmap. It includes your defined goals, your priority areas for improvement, and concrete recommendations. It’s yours to keep, no matter what happens next.

Where does the assessment take place?

At my private studio in Neuilly-sur-Seine, a 5-minute walk from the Pont de Neuilly station (Line 1). You’ll have access to a private changing room with a shower, and a light snack will be provided. I can conduct sessions in French or English.

Do you have to be in good shape to get started?

No. The assessment is designed for both complete beginners and experienced athletes. There is no test to pass. The goal is to measure, not to judge.

How can you tell if a coach is good right from the first meeting?

  • He asks questions before proposing a plan.
  • He measures instead of guessing.
  • He explains his findings in simple terms.
  • He does not promise guaranteed results or miraculous results in a short time.
  • He gives you a written plan—not just a printout.
